Vintage wedding dresses are ushering in a new era nowadays. Vintage, in terms of fashion is used to describe clothing which was manufactured between the 1920s and the 1980s. A pre 1920s wedding dress would be considered ‘Antique’ while a gown made between the 1980s and the mid 1990s would be classed as ‘Retro’.

By the start of 1920, the flapper wedding dresses were in fashion. These dresses were loose throughout, more casual and feminine, more in a chemise style, but very decent and simpler, some even up to knee-length. While the veils then were more adorned, elaborated and embellished. During the 30s, the dresses became slender with collars and loose fitting bodice, concentrating more on the length. Instead of tiaras and veils, women wore beautiful hats.

The ‘20s-‘30s style can be described as nonchalant, feminine, high class, simple yet sophisticated, whimsy, flirty, imposing, bold, seductive, attractive, sensual, dainty, casual and chic. It’s all about elegance, glitter and coquetry!

Many modern brides, toss out modern wedding dress, but yearn to wear a vintage superb 1920s flapper wedding dress because the old charm and vintage beauty never fades.
